Here’s the two videos from today and I’m adding in my monologue. It may change because I’m not sure if I could 100% use it yet I may change it into something else . But here’s the general idea or inspiration:
Monologue:
“My father was abusive. Not to me, to my mother. He would get so angry when they fought that sometimes he would hit her. When that happened, he would spend the next week or two making up for it. He would do things like buy her flowers or take us out to a nice dinner. Sometimes he would buy me stuff because he knew I hated it when they fought. When I was a kid, I found myself looking forward to the nights they would fight. Because I knew if he hit her, the two weeks that followed would be great.”. “Of course if I could, I would have made it to where he never touched her. But the abuse was inevitable with their marriage, and it became our norm. When I got older, I realized that not doing something about it made me just as guilty. I spent most of my life hating him for being such a bad person, but I’m not so sure I’m much better. Maybe we’re both bad people.”

hey Nyree!
heres some notes that I have for you:
-the different qualities and speed is effective
-play with switching spots they feel almost stuck and theres a whole stage
-do they notice each other maybe?
-when Kit reaches in the beginning her reach towards Emma to give her a reason to start, we practiced this in showings but definitely add that and keep it in mind.
I agree with Stacia and Taylor. You have about three minutes worth of material between your two dancers that you can manipulate to extend the piece. Maybe take reaches and travel them or use around each other. Level changes will also make this effective. Also, your monologue gives a lot of insight into the relationship between these two dancers. Use that to also play around with your movement!
I completely agree with Stacia! Also, try playing with spacing a bit more. They're very stationary right now... What would happen if they switched places throughout? Or what would happen if they move through/around each other? Just some ideas!
definitely play with spicing up what you have! making kit's first set of reaches move, use levels, different timing, etc can really help them shine! on those chest movements she does too I think it would be cool to bring her head with it (more of like a full upper body breath?) definitely also think about facings, letting them spiral around each other, and syncing up some of their movements so it can be like a call and response almost? also the timing- reallllyyy slow for emma, and fast and crazy for kit- especially on the repetition! you've got all the choreography you need so far so it's just the fun part now of playing with it! love the direction so far and I think this is gonna be extremely powerful, it's already chilling
