Rough idea of the first half of the first section. Don’t let the mirror fool you, the two on the far side are six feet or more apart! Also please let me know if you can see the video, I’m having a hard time uploading it.
I really enjoy the beginning of your piece, using one dancer is a great way to ease the audience in before all your dancers take action.
One way I can see this on film is to do a single shot of the first dancer, then do a rapid zoom to the rest of the dancers when they begin dancing. After that do a moving shot on both the left and the right as they all dance together. Capturing all dancers is key to this piece and I highly encourage you to think of creative way to film them. It can be from the sides, the front, the back, bellow, or above.
Much luck to you, and I can't wait to see this on film.
Strong beginning that draws the viewer in. How could you do the same with the camera? Think of all the ways this soloist can be filmed both by herself and surrounded by the others. Seems close ups would portray the feeling and essence. Both group and individual shots with multiple edits could work for the group section to portray the feeling of why multiple people are moving differently around the soloist. Remember to direct the viewers eye with your camera shots and edits. Keep up the good work.
First of all, really great work so far. It's nice to see how much you've created. From what I see I can feel so much potential for what you will do with this movement moving forward. Are you planning on using these already set phrases to create more movement? Also, did you want the dancers to travel from their places in the video? If so, I am genuinely looking forward to how you decide to do that. For me, music creates a mood that makes me look for what is going to happen next, it feels like there is a very specific story you want to tell. Just my interpretation :-)
Hey LJ! This is a really good start. The music works for me so does the movement they flow really well together. The movement also utilizes your dancer abilities which is a good thing especially when working with many dancers. one thing i would say is to play around with levels and timing in the beginning. i feel it might layer it some more. maybe adding some pauses or canons. something to look at and play with. For the synchronized part i would maybe play with quality changes. maybe find moments where it can be sharper and or quicker. otherwise its looking really good right now and i cant wait to see how this progresses!!
Hi LJ! I agree with Julia and Brittney that it would be very pleasing to find different ways to incorporate your soloist throughout your piece. I really enjoyed each dancer doing a different phrase in the beginning. I feel as though it could be interesting to play with stop and go's. For example, Camryn and Heather both do a flick passé. When they go to passé, they can hold it for 1-2 counts while everyone else is still moving. Then everyone moves again and another person or duet pause. Good work so far! I can't wait to see the end result :)
Hey LJ! The use of both unison and nonunison movement creates a nice visual contrast! Also, the music and movement also pull my interest as to what the concept might be you're playing with. Keep playing with the soloist and how you can incorporate her throughout! Great job so far 😊
Hi LJ! I found it interesting how you had each dancer doing a different phrase and I think they all compliment each other well! I appreciate how you started with a soloist while the other dancers remained still, and I'm curious to see if that's an idea you maybe plan on incorporating again later in your piece.
