title: the feeling of drowning
dancer: Whitney Verbeck
song: station by lapsly, mixed and edited by Jayden Williams(student here)
background: still playing around a bit with movement but I’m trying to show through movement what it’s like when u feel like ur drowning. One video is whitney doing the movement and the other video is me showing the next part of the sequence.

The movement is truly strong with vibrant contrasting shapes and rhythmic textures. Brava! As far as quality of movement, I think the way you present it is more powerful. Try to demonstrate to Whitney exactly how you are executing it, so she can do it with the same intention. Also, consider not covering Whitney's face. She is an amazing performer and showing her face and expressions could actually lend power to the work.
Because the music is a student-made work, you won't have to edit it for YouTube. 'Check' - that part is done. The music is very powerful, especially if 'the feeling of drowning' is your title. I already found myself holding my breath.
I see dimness or darkness with lighting. I see the film in black and white. - downing is death, and death tends to lose color. Perhaps, throughout the film, the color could even slowly fade to black and white. Also, as I told Taylor, whenever there is something emotional on film, there is a tendency for it to be shot in slow motion. Think about that idea. As far as clip transitions, quick cut aways or slowish dissolves would be my recommendation - as seamless and natural as possible. Keep the essence of realism in mind as you edit. This will give it the 'fear factor' that you may be looking for in the work.
Hey Tat! The sound you're using is simple yet interesting. The use of smooth/slow movements to the quick stops are very effective and I was pulled in. What are your thoughts on a location and costume? I'm excited to see more😊
