About Video Submissions
-
Choreographers will evaluate videos based on accuracy of choreography, technical ability, personality, and performance quality.
-
Your video will need to include:
-
First: a brief introduction – name, where you’re from, why you are auditioning, and if you wish to be cast in only one or more than one dance work.
-
Second: a single performance of the combination you learned from the Zoom Open Call Audition.
-
-
When creating your video, please:
-
Do your best with your environment. We understand that you will all be limited to your homes, backyards, etc. when filming. Make sure we are able to easily focus on you as the star of your video without being upstaged by things in the background.
-
Make sure you have plenty of front light. We need to be able to see you clearly.
-
Make sure the quality of your video is optimal, and that you are representing yourself in the BEST way possible.
-
-
Technical requirements:
-
Practice uploading your video to one of the sites listed below, and send it to yourself or a friend/family member to test and review, so you can ensure that it uploads correctly at a high resolution.
-
Please only submit one video file/link, not multiple.
-
Film your video horizontally so that it is full screen when viewed.
-

Casting
-
Details will be sent by email to those selected by THURSDAY Sept 10, 2020.
-
Your choreographer(s) will contact you directly with their requirements.
-
Thank you for virtually auditioning with us!

If you are Cast
You will be registered into DANC 309: Performance and Production, receiving one (1) class credit per choreographer who casts you. IT IS A CLASS, so please treat it that way. Your choreographer(s) will be evaluating you (as a teacher does) as well as the professor, and you will receive a final grade.
Each choreographer will be submitting three (3) Media Dance Works this semester.
-
It is up to the choreographer to determine if you will participate in all three of their works or not. This will depend on their choreographic plan.
-
Each choreographer is responsible for submitting their first Media Dance Work by Sept 25th. The time-frame is extremely short, so please attend all rehearsals/filming sessions, and work very hard on your own (independently) to perfect the choreography.
-
You are expected to work hard and respectfully with a sense of professionalism toward your choreographer(s), fellow cast members, and the film/lighting crew members.
-
A passion for dance, discipline to constantly achieve high standards, and dedication to maintain class requirements are highly valued. A great work ethic and a positive attitude are necessary for success.
-
SUNY Potsdam dancers are ambassadors for our school, the community, and the arts at large. Being a role model is a responsibility and a gift.
-
-
Completed Media Dance Works will be posted on performance platforms and social media each first Friday of October, November, and December. We expect you to share, share, share all works for all to see SUNY Potsdam Media Dance success! Potsdam Pride , all!
