Hello Everyone!
Here’s about half of my first piece “Chapter One: The ManMade” with 1/2 of my dancers doing the basic material. I ask for just general feedback and any patterns you may see in the choreography. Keep in mind this will be filmed in an alley way :)
Thank you!
I see different styles of movement, almost every 8 counts. It starts and stops frequently. The dancers looks like she is practicing rather than performing as it could still be new to her. Perhaps, she is not fully sure of the intention either. With that said, if the dancer's energy is pumped up to 150% and fully performs, and the movement ideas flow more, this can be a strong work. Your choreography has to be as big and bold as the colorful mural in the alleyway. Also, I see multiple edits happening in the final product - even every time there is a new movement phrase.
hey brit! this really good so far. i noticed the repetition in the movement i would just look at playing around with different facings, levels, or even quality changes. i also agree with tatyanna, if maybe you can play around with stillness or even the timing might layer it a bit more. otherwise everything looks good and the movement compliments the music very well.
Brittney,
Based on what I've witnessed from your previous works in our classes together, this feels very different and I think that is amazing. Can you remind me again of what your the other 2 parts will be about? I notice that you are playing with repetition in conjunction with different facings along with very intentional moments of stillness. I was thinking it would be really cool to watch (and feel) perhaps a moment of stillness that does not go directly with the music. That might throw the audience off in an interesting way. You're doing really wonderful so far, keep it up! 😊
Hey this Bri if you couldn’t tell but I wanted to say congratulations on the movement. I’ve noticed you have repetition in your movement that I enjoyed. I’ll say try to play with different faces and more level changes I know the space is small but it’s a thought and just to give you an idea think about other ways of how you could play with movement like reversing movement, retrograde movement and more but I can’t wait to see your dancing in a wider space, also have you thought about a location and costume?
That's my duet partner 😍
The movement seems fun for the dancer and audience! One thing to look back at or think about is in the beginning, there are short stops which seem unclear whether they are supposed to be put there as stops or if the movements are supposed to flow together.
Hi Brittney! I noticed the repetition and I feel that, along with the quality of the movement, paired very well with the music. Your dancer seems to be having fun doing the choreography too, which elevates the emotion of it. I don't know if you thought to do this, but I think having your dancers perform this piece with a big, bright smile like she did would work great!!
